INTERMITTENT FASTING: THE 16:8 METHOD




First of all, I want to share my own experience and you are free to do whatever you want. Let me start saying that fasting is not for EVERYONE.


I started following the 16:8 fasting method 8 months ago. 16:8 is basically that I fast (I don´t eat) for 16hs and in the 8hs window I eat 2-3 big meals. During those 16hs you are allow to drink Tea, mate or black coffee and it helps you a lot. One of the biggest benefits I got from fasting are my levels of energy. When I train in the morning while fasting I feel my best, I can go for a run and lift at my 100% ( take into account that I make sure my dinner has all the macro nutrients I need to have the right energy in the morning).


Another great benefit is fat burning. Intermittent fasting can help the body burn fat by altering hormone levels and initiating metabolic processes like ketosis. During a fast, the body's insulin levels drop, signaling it to start using stored energy, including fat, for fuel. This process can be more effective for fat loss than continuous calorie restriction, potentially leading to greater reductions in body fat and belly fat. When I started doing fasting on September I was in 8% body fat and today I have 5.3% body fat. Lastly but not least, brain health: When I work or train in the morning I´m lazer focus. This. is because intermittent fasting may lead to improved cognitive function, potentially boosting focus, clarity, and concentration. This is attributed to the increased production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that supports brain health and cognitive function. Additionally, the digestive system getting a break allows the brain to focus its energy on other cognitive tasks, leading to better clarity and concentration. 


However, when doing intermittent fasting is CRUCIAL to focus on what you eat. More than ever is super important to get the macronutrients your body needs to perform at your best but also recover the right way.
